I think because they already know that people love sodas and they take advantage of that to make money , and they know too that people can drink water from the faucet and don’t have buy it at the store ….. Lol lol and water won’t kill you but soda will lol lol

A couple possibilities:

They are making more bottles of soda so it drives the cost down!

Or

They know people will pay more for a healthy option
