Eat more, but less? That is one confusing statement right there. Even more confusing is when someone will say that when one eats more food, he loses more weight. How is that even possible?
It is actually because of the body’s mechanism that is called metabolism. Metabolism, although affected by a lot of factors, is affected mainly by the food that the body takes in. The foods make up the nutritions needed by the body, and the keys of metabolism are the nutritions. Therefore, there is a correlative tie among the three that cannot be dissolved.
To stay fit does not necessarily mean that one must eat less. In fact, studies show that the more a person eats, the more he loses weight. However, there is a need to consider the food that he eats. He must still maintain a healthy diet even when eating food frequently.
Eating more but less will help speed up metabolism. To stay fit the right way through metabolism, one must be particular with the nutrients contained in the food he eats. A healthy diet, although frequent, is likely to help speed up metabolism. It must be remembered that to stay fit is not equal to staying thin. The body must still receive the sufficient amount of nutrients through a healthy diet in order to function well. The body needs nutritions all the time. This is true even though metabolism speaks of burning calories because when the body burns calories, it turns it into energy, and every person needs energy to function.
Thus, what is meant by eat more but less is to eat more often but in smaller servings. It means eat at least three times a day, but eat only the sufficient amount of food you need for energy. Eating a light, healthy meal every other hour is better than eating one heavy meal per day. Eating a light, healthy meal often within the day will make a person’s body feel satisfied all throughout the day. It will also prevent the body from storing unnecessary fats. Hence, eating less than what the body requires will result in failure in trying to stay fit. The tendency is that it will make the body crave for more food and it will result in a higher amount of food intake than necessary. It will also lead to slower metabolism. So the goal to stay fit will be spoiled.
This is not difficult to achieve. There are ways of ensuring that the body will not feel weak. One of these ways is to eat breakfast. There is a reason why breakfast is considered as the most important meal of the day. Breakfast, if the right kind and amount of food is eaten, helps a person gain more energy needed for the whole day. This is where metabolism enters again since metabolism is responsible for turning food into energy. In addition, after the 6-8 hours of sleep, breakfast will help a person get through mid-day without craving for more food. Studies have shown that people who do not eat breakfast are more likely to crave for fatty, unhealthy food to “make up” for the lost calories not taken during breakfast.
To stay fit the right way, one must remember that the most important thing is what one eats. A healthy diet with just the right amount to sustain the needs of the body will result in a faster metabolic rate even if food is consumed more frequently.
I’ve never had to worry about my metabolism but as I get older I see that it’s slowing down. Thanks for the tips in the article.
